Introducing Daniela

Daniela is a legal professional consultant with considerable experience of reviewing and negotiation of commercial contracts, and worked for British Telecom Italia Spa, Pinna Spada Law Firm, Iveco UK Ltd, Provincia Oristano. She is a knowledgeable and reliable Law graduate with a Masters in International Trade Law ( with a focus on international contracts) and recently qualified in International Regulatory Compliance through an Advanced Course from the International Compliance Association (ICA). Here, she shares her insights on recent experiences as an Obelisk legal professional consultant.

Can you describe your work experiences through Obelisk?

I feel thankful for having had the opportunity of joining Obelisk. It is truly a great company, innovative and founded on inspirational grounds. The team is the best one could wish for, professional, skilled, friendly, and inclusive.

Through Obelisk, I have had the opportunity to work with clients that belong to an industry which was new to me, the fashion industry. I find this extremely motivating as I can deal with a new sector, advising mainly on commercial contracts and agreements and, although the legal basis remains the same, it is interesting and engaging to see and come across the peculiarities, policies and commercial objectives inherent to this sector.

What makes your expertise unique?

I am passionate about the law and pretty much about all legal subjects, which became clear to me the very moment I received an offer for my Law Course at Southampton Solent University. Since then, I have very much focused my expertise on contracts, international and domestic from the two countries where I lived, carried out my studies and had my professional experiences — Italy and the UK. I guess I have a double point of view which can be very important when you help a client dealing with contracts or other legal issues by bringing a different approach when needed while applying the law without losing sight of the client’s objective.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of flexible working as a legal professional consultant?

Being able to be always on track with my profession with great companies based anywhere, in the same or in different countries or time zones, and being able to follow more than just one project. The Latter of course demands more commitment, but it is also extremely motivating.

The most challenging?

Keeping levels of interaction consistent and efficient in order to always have clearly in mind what the client needs in every circumstance. Understanding your client’s needs and their way of working, which is not always so straightforward. However if you love your job and you commit to do it at the highest standards, then challenges can be overcome.

What are your proudest professional and personal achievements so far?

I don’t think I could name one single occasion or event. On a more general professional achievements note, it is the fact that I never gave up on my dream and objective to carry out my legal profession, no matter where I was, far or close to my clients, remotely or on site. I’m also very proud of my constant will to grow by keeping updated, learning new subjects and deepening my knowledge in an era where everything goes and keeps on changing so fast. I have also set myself a new professional goal; it will take commitment and hard work, but I shall certainly try my best and hardest.

Personal achievements I am most proud of? I would not be able to tell. I am always very demanding of myself, but I try to be a good human being towards other people and animals of course, to be kind and to help whenever I can. I’ve learned how to be thankful and grateful for what I have, and I feel proud of this awareness. It makes me feel content.

How do you find the right work/life balance?

Well, flexible work means work/life balance to me. I mostly work remotely, which allows me to switch from work to personal life in no time at all and this, in turn, allows me to be very efficient when working and to enjoy my personal life in a more relaxed and smooth way. I also have the best furry co-worker! But I strongly believe that loving your job really contributes to a proper work/life balance.

What are your words of advice to other legal consultants?

Never stop setting your objectives, never stop learning and never stop being curious. Approaching our profession with dedication and commitment sets the way to creating the right job position and achieve that work/life balance we all understand being so important.

How do you start and end your day?

I start my day with a 45 minutes jog. I love it! It gives me an energy boost for the rest of the day. I end my day with a relaxing walk with my dog and often, if not too late, a nice Aperitivo with my husband, then dinner, and a nice movie or one of my books.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation! Like in Star Trek’s “Beam me up” and voilà. I could be anywhere in no time at all, my favourite cities all over the world where I have my favourite friends and family. Perfect!
